The Bern State Archives was not as productive for our searching as I would have hoped. It was fun to stop by, look through what they had, but then we moved on.
When searching for family names, it is much better to find the films or records that the churches produced. By the time we arrived in Switzerland, all of the Bern Church records had been made available online. I was very glad I didn't know that one week earlier or we could have cancelled our trip.
